Redesign the civil engineering part of the power plant based on Nigeria’s local geography. The construction of the single-cycle plant began in February 2020, and COD began in July 2020. The combined-cycle COD is in November 2020. Since its operation, the unit has been operating efficiently, with the three-year average availability factor above 96%.
Generation Equipment List:
- The MS6541B gas turbine produced by JOHN BROWN in 1989 has a fire hour of 60,000 hours and uses heavy oil as the main fuel most of the time.
- Siemens 16MW steam turbine.
Our Approach And Solution

Our Approach And Solution
The $4 million project was successfully completed in two separate phases with both phases coming in on schedule and the overall costs coming in under budget. Emergency repairs to the facility were completed on December 11th, 2014 which allowed for the facility to operate through the critical winter months. Permanent electrical repairs along with less critical site deficiencies were completed in April and May of 2016 when a longer facility shut-down could be tolerated. In order to meet the required schedule, TransGas delegated procurement and construction management services to WSP.
